#SoRTravels: Mykonos Travel Guide

Our journey to Mykonos Town was a quest for inspiration, a deep dive into the island's artistic soul. As designers, we sought more than just a holiday; we were after the stories, the art, the life that thrums in the veins of Mykonos. Let's walk you through our discoveries, and don't miss our short film at the end of this post for a vivid glimpse into our Mykonos experience!

Matoyianni Street: A Symphony of Style and Art

Our stroll through Matoyianni Street was a journey through a vibrant tapestry of fashion and art. Here, you could discover a good mix of contemporary design along with boutiques that were distinctly Myconian. It made this street one of our favorite places to shop while we were there.

Little Venice: Where History Meets the Sea

In Little Venice, history whispers from every corner. Houses with their feet dipped in the sea, their balconies hanging over the waves, offered us a scene from a bygone era. This area felt super cinematic and closest to the charming, seaside Mykonos we had seen depicted in films and on social media.

Rarity Gallery: A Modern Art Exploration

Visiting Rarity Gallery was like stepping into a different world. Each piece of contemporary art challenged us to think differently, to see beyond the ordinary. It was a space where imagination knew no bounds but one that also felt to honor the lifestyle of Mykonos. Places like this punctuated the city as so much more than a vacation destination - but as a cultural hotspot for enthusiasts of beauty.

Cine Manto Mykonos: Cinema Under a Starry Sky

At Cine Manto Mykonos, we found a unique blend of cinema and nature. Watching films under a blanket of stars, surrounded by the scent of gardens, was an experience that felt both timeless and intimate.

Paraportiani Church: An Ode to Cycladic Architecture

The Paraportiani Church, a confluence of four chapels, stood as a marvel of minimalist design. Its stark white shapes against vibrant blue skies offered a moment of tranquility and reflection, reminding us of the power of simplicity in design.

Local Tavernas: A Culinary Journey

Our culinary explorations in local restaurants brought us closer to the heart of Mykonos. Every dish was a story of tradition, a celebration of local flavors and a testament to the island's rich cultural tapestry. A couple of our favorites were Mathew Tavern and Kostas. One of our favorite things to do when visiting a new place is to grab a visit local bars and shop soliciting recommendations from the people that call Mykonos home. This has led to some of our most unique and hospitable dining experiences while abroad.

Now that you've journeyed through our blog, we invite you to watch a short film we made that we feel perfectly encapsulates our adventures through Mykonos. It captures the essence of our trip, the beauty we encountered, and the inspiration we found. It's our way of bringing a piece of this beautiful city to you.

This trip was more than just a visit to an iconic Greek island; it was a journey into a place of so much inspiration and deeply moving natural beauty. Mykonos Town, with its fusion of history, art, and culture, proved to be a haven for designers and creatives like us seeking inspiration. We hope this blog and our film inspire you to visit Greece or even take a similar approach to adventure on your next vacation.
